The Ice Age is Over (as a song goes - is pretty much the the novel, the play, the essay, the auto-fictional memoir) I have endeavored to write for the last 20 years. This is an even more condensed narrative to the song (released on GpYr) ... It reminded me of a story I think I know. Apparently, when Steinbeck heard Woody Guthrie's song, Tom Joad, he said, "it took me a whole novel to tell the story that this little bastard got across in a few verses..."
