This album, extended Ep, or musical archive features remixes, reimagined arrangements, unreleased stuff, and then some. Most of the material is taken from GpYr but in many ways GpYr reflects these songs from their beginnings. These unreleased gems reflect a kind of back and forth artistic time travel. The idea came from finding a cassette tape that my friend, Zander and I recorded for a band that we invented that we, as adults, refer to as StarTac, although I don't think we ever gave it an official name back then. It was a chance for me and him to be British and broody. And since GpYr takes some inspiration from time travel and future adventure stories told in the past tense. I wanted to see if we couldn't complete the dance record, Zander and I had started when we were young and bold. Colored Copies (The GpYr Remixes +) is the atmospheric and psychic result of that effort. My experience going into Baltimore and DC I want to thank all my friends who helped me with this and those who wanted to help me with this but couldn't for one reason or the other. I am lucky to have such talented people in my life. And even though this reflects a slightly different musical output from me (although I know many of you know I love electronic/pop music and have released remixes from the very beginning) but this is a truly my first truly concerted effort to document in some way that fills everyone in, no matter what you think of it, to an extremely important time in my life. A genuine part of my musical inspiration and history - as the sober friend, designated driver, sheepish wallflower, who could be counted on to not drop molly or suck on nitrous, and more importantly, get everyone home just as the sun was rising.
